We want to thank you for the courage and kindness you are putting into finding a loving home for your baby. We are excited to tell you about who we are and the life that your baby will have if you decide to choose us as your baby’s adoptive parents.
If you choose us, your baby will have more than a deeply loving home. Your baby will have a diverse community of friends, a love of nature and a life full of fun and discovery. We are a family and we want you to really know who we are, because you too will be an important part of our lives, and we an important part of yours.
We have chosen the path of open adoption deliberately. We know it is best for a child to have a relationship with their birth family and our feelings about family are very open. Love is love. We hope that we can support you to maintain a loving relationship with your baby – as their beloved birth parent – throughout their life. We also also ok if this is not something that you want.
We met ten years ago in a bookstore that Brooke used to run in NYC. Since that time, we moved upstate near to Gregg’s hometown. We now run a Social Justice Retreat Center across the street from our house. We have always wanted to adopt a child and chose to wait until we had created the home and community of our dreams to welcome a child into. We are now ready.
We live in a green house with a blue front door. We live next to a creek and across the street from a vegetable and flower farm run by our friends. We share our home with our cat Mush and our 6-month old puppy Bella. Our home is a very open and welcoming place, with friends stopping in often. We are a 5-minute drive from a good-sized town, with schools, multiple restaurants, a bookstore, a movie theater and an amazing community center that runs lots of creative programs for kids.
We are very close with our family. Though we have no children of our own, we have 8 nieces and nephews. Many of them live very close by and are an important part of our lives. As the youngest of the pack, a new baby will be smothered in cousin love.
We live in a diverse community. Our friends are artists, activists, filmmakers, doctors, farmers, cooks and teachers. Living in a community of people from all different backgrounds means we have a lot of fun together. Many of our friends either have young children or plan to have children soon, so your baby will have a lot of friends to play with.
We spend most of our days working at home or next door at our Retreat Center. Our Center hosts groups of people who are working to make the world a more just and loving place. Gregg leads them on hikes, helps them with their finances and bakes them bread. Brooke cooks, teaches them yoga and helps them to make their groups as effective as possible. We love what we do and feel grateful to be able to host so many inspiring and caring people from all over the world.
Because we work so close to home, we have a lot of flexibility and free time. We love spending time outdoors – hiking the trails behind our house and swimming in our pond. We both love to dance salsa. We love traveling, cooking for friends, hosting movie nights and just plain hanging out. We can’t wait to have fun with a new little friend.
If you choose us as your baby’s adoptive parents, your baby will be surrounded by nature and will have many friends of all different ages and backgrounds. In addition to loving them unconditionally, we will give your baby the support they need to discover what they love most and to choose their path in life.
We are grateful to you for your consideration.
We look forward to getting to know you and to the possibility of you and your baby becoming meaningful parts of our lives.
With love and respect,
Brooke & Gregg
